The Waterford Dee Ring Bit is a multi-jointed bit that encourages mouthing. It's good for horses or ponies where an extra bit of control is needed.
The mouthpiece on a Waterford is made of multiple joints and is very flexible. Due to the many joints, the Waterford has many bumps, which can act as pressure points. The idea is that the great flexibility will discourage the horse from leaning on it and pulling.
This bit is finely crafted by Abbey Saddlery in England and designed specifically for ponies. Abbey bits are manufactured from castings using the "lost wax" technique that produces a much finer detail and finish than the traditional sand cast steel.
